CREATING a Successful Future

By Stephanie Wright | Editor at Clearview Group Limited

With a success story spanning two decades, Hallmark Panels celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Today, Hallmark Group Products manufactures PVCu and Aluminium Doors and panels, GRP Composite Doors, Architectural mouldings, bespoke fascia and Trespa panels and more recently, Toughened Glass services. Clearview joins Group Marketing and Digital Manager, Gary Maddock-Greene, who tells how the business owes the success of the last 20 years to its determination to grow and develop its products.

A by-product of sister company Laminated Supplies, its owners decided to form Hallmark Panels in 1995 after successfully developing a range of PVCu and aluminium panels. The new range of aluminium panels had a major impact allowing aluminium fabricators to offer a wide range of residential doors. Laminated Supplies already had an established market providing a comprehensive range of bonded sandwich panels in a variety of materials to Local Authorities and other commercial sectors.

With the continuing growth of its entrance door panel range, the off-spring company quickly outgrew its manufacturing facilities and in 1995, invested in new manufacturing facilities in Hull. Gary picks up the story and explains: “Hallmark Panels quickly developed in the early stages, growing its range of entrance door products further to incorporate a range of GRP composite doors products. Fortrace Limited, The Hallmark Group Products' GRP division, was already manufacturing architectural mouldings and contributed to enable Hallmark Panels to manufacture its own range of GRP doors. The GRP launch took the business to a new dimension and we led the way working with sister company Fortrace to develop our composite range further.

“Up until this point, our sale channel was very much focused on providing customers our door panels fabricated in to a frame structure which was outsourced. This inevitably increased our customer’s lead-time and as demand grew we took the decision to make further investment to produce a complete doorset of our own.

“We partnered with The Veka UK Group, utilising its Halo Rustique and Eclipse 70mm profile sections to produce our very own exclusive range of GRP composite doorsets for the market place. This move enabled us to reduce the lead-time for our customer drastically, and put us back into the marketplace as a serious entrance door contender.

“Development of our ranges intensified as we grew, and our door designs and styles changed to accommodate the ever changing demands of the consumer. Partnering with The Veka UK Group gave us confidence in our supply chain enabling us to competently provide our customers with further advancing ranges.” Gary adds.

Further investment was made in the years to follow to support the company’s growth including a major investment in Toughened Glass Solutions Limited, a glass toughening and sealed unit manufacturing company and the the introduction of a fleet of new delivery vehicles to ensure safe and on-time delivery and the introduction of a new telesales department; enabling Hallmark Panels to keep in close contact to its customers, sharing with them the introduction of new products, product and services changes.

Gary explains: “With the growing demand for our products we had to develop our infrastructure and grew internally with demand. Looking back it is hard to believe how we managed with the small number of resource we had. We now employ over 130 full time staff and distribute approximately 4,000 products a week manufactured across our 90,000 sq/ft site.

“We primarily operate in and around the UK, Ireland and continental Europe, delivering to our customers on one of our fifteen delivery vehicles, providing customer with lead-times acceptable to their needs.” Gary adds.

2015 is a landmark year for Hallmark and celebrates the passion and desire the business has for the industry. Continuing to supply its grass roots products to its ever expanding customer base, through its dedicated, experienced and growing team of professionals.

Clearview for one, wish Gary and the Team at Hallmark a successful 20th anniversary celebration and good luck for the future.

HALO Puts Hallmark in the frame.

2015 marks the 20th year in business for leading Humberside-based composite door manufacturer, Hallmark Panels. The company, which specialises in the manufacture of PVC-U and aluminium decorative infill panels, composite doors and architectural mouldings is a long-standing client of The VEKA UK Group, using renowned Halo profile systems for the outer-frame of its extensive and varied range of doors.

Hallmark Panels has manufactured infill panels for the window industry for more than 25 years and is one of the pioneers of composite door manufacturing with over 20 years’ experience. The company is considered to be at the forefront of design and innovation, leading the way in both modern and traditional product design offerings.

Group Marketing & Digital Manager, Gary Maddock-Greene comments: “During my time at Hallmark, I have seen numerous innovative products developed and delivered to market. Our wide range of products – including GRP Architectural products, twin-rebated composite doors and bespoke panel manufacturing at our group company, Laminated Supplies – often takes new customers by surprise. By investing in 5 state-of-the-art CNC machines over the last 10 years we have been able to reduce internal manufacturing costs and time to market, enabling Hallmark to become more competitive without compromise on quality or service.”

Hallmark uses both traditionally sculptured and contemporary-looking bevelled profiles from the Halo portfolio, further maximising the potential for personalisation in its door designs.

Gary continues: “When deciding on a PVC-U profile manufacturer to work with, Halo’s dominant market position was a major contributing factor. As one of the UK’s leading composite door manufacturers, we needed an established, competent supplier that could demonstrate a commitment to continued product development and supply. Through the distinctive aesthetics of Halo’s Rustique and Eclipse 70mm profiles, we are able to cater to a wide and varied market.”

Colin Torley, Sales and Marketing Director for The VEKA UK Group adds: “We’re proud that Halo profile plays such an important part in the winning blend of materials and techniques that Hallmark Panels has developed over the years.

“The company demonstrates a truly proactive approach to its work, constantly looking for ways to improve and streamline its manufacturing processes, minimise its environmental impact and pass the savings onto clients. Values like these align perfectly with what we do at The VEKA UK Group and we look forward to continuing our work together with Hallmark. Here’s to another 20 years’ success!”

Hallmark Group Products companies, Hallmark Panels, Laminated Supplies and Fortrace have now been joined by Toughened Glass Solutions Ltd., adding a fast and efficient supply of shaped, toughened glass services to the group and high quality sealed units to the trade.

The company’s recent purchase of a TRUMPF laser cutting machine coincides with the launch of new aluminium door and panel collections and, with an expanded range of 30-minute fire doors hitting the market, Hallmark is set to continue its impressive programme of product innovations throughout its 20th anniversary year.
